Vampires Bibliography: Secondary Texts
A comprehensive list of secondary reading on the representation of vampires in culture. This is by no means complete and we welcome suggestions. This bibliography should be supplemented by consulting bibliographies on Gothic, horror, folklore, and other related topics (some of which we hope to add to this site.)
Wolves, Werewolves and Wild Children: Bibliography
This is a selective but wide list of reading and other resources connected with our In the Company of Wolves book, the Wolves and Wildness special issue of Gothic Studies, and related events such as the 2023 online symposium and the original conference of 2015. It overlaps with and complements the bibliography supplied in the book.
‘Ill met by moonlight’: Gothic fairies bibliography
A comprehensive bibliography of fairy novels, fairy poetry, fairy films and other primary texts, together with a list of secondary reading. This grew out of our own reseach into the Gothic fairy, which appears in essays by Sam George and Bill Hughes and supplements our 2021 ‘Ill met by moonlight’ conference and the 2026 edited collection, Gothic Encounters with Enchantment and the Faerie Realm in Literature and Culture.
Sea Changes: Mermaids and selkies bibliography
A comprehensive bibliography, with references to film, ballet, and music too, of novels and literature inspired by mermaids, selkies and other kindred aquatic folk. This came out of the research in preparation for our 2005 Sea changes: The fairytale Gothic of mermaids, selkies, and enchanted hybrids of ocean and river conference.
